Shirley has also undertaken voluntary work, notably for the Citizens Advice Bureau and for the London 2012 Olympic Committee. She has raised money for charity through several running events, including the London Marathon, and is currently studying history at the University of London. She also loves art, music and travel, and combines these interests whenever possible.
Shirley qualified as a solicitor in 2001, advising clients on Wills and Probate at a Surrey firm, before moving to Cancer Research UK as a Legacy Officer, then to Legacy Link in 2007. She qualified as a Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) in January 2009, and was nominated for the Institute of Legacy Management’s Legacy Officer of the Year award in 2011.
