Announcing winners the Crispin Ellison Bursary Award 2018

Ashley Rowthorn News

Legacy Link are pleased to announce the winners of the 2018 Crispin Ellison Bursary Award as Jenny-Anne Dexter of Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity and Mel Banham of Bransby Horses.

The winners were announced at the ILM Conference on Friday in a presentation as part of the annual awards. We’d like to share with you a bit about our winners and their charities.

Mel Banham of Bransby Horses who was unable to attend the ILM conference to receive his award, sent in the following message:

I am delighted to have won a Crispin Ellison Bursary Award. Thank you to Legacy Link and the ILM for making this opportunity possible. Undertaking the Certificate in Charity Legacy Administration will be of enormous help to my work at Bransby Horses, currently celebrating its 50th anniversary caring for equines in need. It will also allow me to develop my career potential for the future. I have long realised the immense value of legacies to good causes and am humbled by the generosity of so many people who support charities in this way. I am passionate about respecting the memory of those who leave legacies to their chosen charities. The CiCLA will help make me more effective so that, in turn, I can help create and fulfil a positive quality legacy giving culture.

Three years ago I discovered two new passions – cage fighting and legacy administration. Sadly injury prevents me from cage fighting but I’m luck to be able to work in a job I love. The CiCLA will give me the skills I need to not only support Rainbow Trust, but also to manage a larger and more complicated case load. Through this bursary, Rainbow Trust will have the very best opportunity to grow it’s legacy income in a sustainable and responsible way.

Legacy Link are proud to be supporting Jenny-Anne and and Mel through the next phase of their professional development. The Crispin Ellison Bursary Award will open for applications again in January 2019.
